Techniques of log houses

General information

In «North house» we build the chopped houses and bath-houses through two technologies: Norwegian and Canadian.

It is possible to combine these both methods - for example, outwalls can be built on Canadian technology (I.e. round), and internal - on Norwegian (from a gun-carriage). We identically high-quality will build a house to you, regardless of that style which you will give preference. Everybody is individual, and house which you will build, must reflect Your personality, Your status, Your internal world. We just instrument in Your hands, but how hardly you have that experience and trade, to avoid all possible errors at building of wooden house from a gun-carriage.

Canadian method.
Advantages of the Canadian method

This method is named Canadian, as he was first thought of and used for building of wooden houses in Canada. The Russian weather terms look enough like Canadian, and that is why at the use of hand deck-house of houses and bath-houses from a roundwood we apply the Canadian method exactly. This method provides the best adjoining of logs and their further seating. The exact working out in detail and high-quality treatment of all gaps are substantial for maintenance of good isolation. Wooden houses from a roundwood (built on technology from Canada), will make you happy with warmth and beauty long years.

How does the Canadian method work?

At building of the chopped house or chopped bath-house by this method, logs are laid not densely to each other and with a gap in 3-5this gap is done mm for further correct seating of house through 3-4 years. At drying out a log compresses, and closes all cracks. As logs dry out and cracking on a diameter, an overhead log compresses easier and overscribe in the lateral deepenings closed, allowing to hide all cracks. This method is most technological and aesthetically beautiful  unlike Russian, as in future, at seating of house cracks do not appear between logs. All gaps disappear in course of time.

Only our company applies the Canadian method with a gap, it is a very labour intensive process, but we think about that through 3-4 years Your house continued to make you happy by both the heat and beauty.

Norwegian technology

Canadian technology is a variety of Norwegian. At home the Canadian deck-house made out of roundwood, Norwegian - from a gun-carriage.

Connection of beams is so dense, that eliminates a hit between them of air or water practically. This process additionally increases due to the increase of pressure - the overhead crowns of house are pressed on lower, and a top is closed by a roof on which, in obedience to technology, Norwegians pour earth.

Unicity «Norwegian» lock  consists of that loss of weight angular connection of logs become more dense, the same not giving to the gun-carriage to change position under influence of internal tensions. Thus, than anymore seating and loss of weight of house, the denser became drenched and more durable the chopped house or bath-house.

At such method of drying, already through 6-7 months humidity makes 20%-28%

It is considered that in the log of the atmospheric drying of cracks less than, as moisture leaves from a barrel slowly, and, not so "hard" for him. However practiced such drying is enough rarely from duration of this process.

Laft drying

The main disadvantage of wood is its ability to take up and give up moisture and as a consequence to change its linear size.

Building a cabin of dry laft allows to diminish considerably house shrinkage and fungus appearance during first years after construction. If the house is being built of a summer cut timber and the weather is damp then fungus will grow inevitably and antiseptics won't defend against fungus appearance.

In order to eliminate these defects we dry laft logs in drying cells.

Artificial and natural drying

In the natural drying process logs are being barked, antiseptized and stocked under the roof. Moreover, timber procurement is going on in winter time when there is no sucking in wood and extra moisture is frozen out of timber.

At this method of drying timber humidity goes down to 20% - 28% after 6 - 7 months.

It is considered airing logs to suppress cracking process because moisture leaves a trunk gradually and not destroying its texture. However, such timber drying is rarely practiced because of its long duration.
